How we came to be:
Sandi and Kofi Bekoe manage and operate The Great African Connection.  It's really more than just one love story. It started with an unexpected visit to Ghana, West Africa in the fall of 2000. Sandi fell in love first with Ghana's wonderful people... and later she would marry one of their best.... Kofi James Bekoe.

Sandi started on a very small scale as she returned home with a few small djembe drums, shakeres, and some talking drums that fall of 2000. Then, going back to Ghana the following summer, she again returned home with more djembes. 

Now, a team- Kofi, an import clearing agent, - and Internet-savvy Sandi - they have worked to set up an import/export framework that does work. Kofi is clearly the key to success, since he is an African, and is therefore able to coordinate and communicate the best way possible on the African side.  We are direct importers and exporters, there is no middle man.

Still quite small, we can also offer you the best in personalized service and communication.

Our Drums:
Our drums are made from Tweneboah wood, a very hard wood well-known for it's propensity to make excellent sounding drums. Each drum is made out of a single piece of wood. All animal hide products are examined and certified to be anthrax-free by a licensed veterinarian.
